A Fever You Can't Sweat Out + Live in Denver

Ok first off, I've been avoidant of P!ATD for years purely because this kid I used to be friends with was OBSESSED with Brendon and was like, so weird about him and specifically AFYCSO it totally turned me off of listening to it. I stumbled upon Pretty Odd on YouTube once without realizing it was the band and LOVED IT but still avoided the other stuff because I knew RyRo wasn't doing vocals on AFYCSO and my favorite songs were Behind the Sea and Northern Downpour. It's not like I hadn't heard some of the songs before cause like obvi I've been to parties and I've been part of the scene forevs + I was a theatre kid so I Write Sins Not Tragedies was inevitable. Just trying to prove I'm not a poser for liking it now because like I really did enjoy what I did hear, I just avoided it because it reminded me of a friendship that had totally gone sour.

I've been sitting on a review for this for a year now. I finally started listening to this album and OMG. oh. em. gee. At first I would just replay the first half because like oh wow this is so fun I'm like, obsessed with the use of synths and electronic music with the typical rock instruments and I love the heavy bass but then after I got into the habit of listening to the full album in a setting (not hard, it's only 40 minutes) I think I actually prefer the second half, if not by a marginal amount the entire thing is a masterpiece. Its kind of devastating to think I'm the same age as ryan ross when they did the nothing ryhmes with circus tour. like he was THREE YEARS YOUNGER than I am now when he WROTE THIS THING!! WHAT!!! devastating news. I saw one review that said the last three songs were the weakest closing they've ever heard and I was so shocked because I feel the exact opposite. The last three songs legit like make me ascend I feel like I'm floating. It's just such a like, i don't wanna say sexy but very much album album you can feel if that makes sense it's kind of gritty and it feels like a cheap motel and I love it. I love accordians so that also helps.

anyways I've been listening to live at denver since I found the recordings of it and omg. lying is the most fun is INCREDIBLE in that style it. I-. I don't have enough words for this album or this concert I'm seriously at a loss of words and I've been trying to write a review for this for a year. I'm not that eloquent with words (my movie reviews can vouch for that). Karma Police is offically my fav radiohead song now RIP to vegetable XD. I feel like the best compliment I could give an album is one I'm going to give to AFYCSO which is it makes me miss performing and makes me foam at the mouth to start a band. I need to cover this album so bad. I need to buy an accordian badly. one of my friends plays the cello and I play guitar and bass maybe we could do it haha.

good GRIEF! finally buckled up and bought my first GY!BE record off of their site, it took like over a month to recieve in the mail but after I got it I understood why. the jacket and like everything that comes with the record is actually handmade or put together by real people instead of factory made if that makes sense. It was their very first LP and they just decided to keep up the production of that specific one the exact same since 96'. came with a train pressed penny, a drawing of a train, the strange but detailed schemtics for how f#, a#, ∞ , and -∞ all connect and form different emotions and stuff. also came with the record (obvi), handwritten note from someone at constellation records, and a current cast of musicians for GY!BE which was cool. The record is one of the crazy thick 180g pressings like my miles davis disc. It's super cool cause the LP lineup of tracks is completely different from the version on CD or released on the internet. It sounds like. crazy. IDK how else to explain it it's just surreal to listen to, and if you didn't know its literally f# A# infinity. The end of side 2 is an infinite loop! the ridges spiral inwards on a record and thats how the needle travels, so when it ends it just does a swirl into the non-ridged area, but on a looped album ending they don't swirl out into the non-ridged part and just repeats the last circle. on f# a# infinity it literally loops f# and a# on an ambient loop

Hmmm....can anyone guess who my favorite band is? great CD to keep in my car. looking forward to Folie a Deux on disc!!!

I don't even know where I would begin to review the music of this album, so I'm glad this is just a review of the vinyl release itself. My momma got me this for christmas and she told me it was weirdly hard to find, there seems not to be many releases of the vinyl. This may not be some fancy weighted record with a special jacket or whatever but this manages to delight and suprise me everytime I listen to it. It sounds super analog but somehow it works really well with the more synthpop tracks on here. "more to life than this" really feels like you're in that club if you have good speakers. Everything is really balanced and the sleeve and jacket are simple but sturdy.

OH MY FREAKKKKKKKIIIINNGGGGGGGG GOSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!! This is like, the coolest record I have now. Sorry Mitski you've been bumped to second place! You can kind of see through it but it's still really reflective. Nothing special about audio quality, although I probably wouldn't hear it regardless because I kind of scream along to the whole thing...

I recieved 3 records for Christmas, 2 from my family and one from my bestie, Kat. I'm not reviewing the albums themselves as I've listened to them many, many times, but I'll be reviewing the vinyl themselves.

Miles Davis: Kind of Blue

Printed on the 180 gram audiophile pressing, this one sounds so crisp and beautiful. Nothing super special about the packaging otherwise but my new turntable really brings out the amazing audio quality and how damn CRISP this sounds!! It seriously sounds like theres a trumpet in the room. I'll admit, I know the weight of a record really doesn't do much for sound quality other than preventing warping (thus preventing skips and), but I feel like if a distributor takes the time to press soemthing 180, they usally use a higher quality base for the recording like the original masters rather than a digital version, so that's usually where the myth of sound quality comes from. correlation not causeation I guess!
